Gaining the Upper Hand in Reef Zones

The primary weapon of a Dogtooth Tuna is its explosive first dive toward the bottom. The structural design of the Dogtooth Pro blank provides maximum stiffness in the butt and mid-sections. This allows the angler to lock down the reel drag and hold the fish in place from the very first seconds of the hookset, preventing it from reaching heavy cover.

Geometry for Heavy Drift Jigging

The 175 cm (5'9") length was selected as the ideal balance for open-ocean operations. On one hand, it allows you to properly work heavy lures (up to 600 grams for the Hyper Nova version) in strong currents without excessive fatigue. On the other hand, it maintains a short lever arm that favors the angler when vertically pumping a spent fish right alongside the boat hull.

Uncompromising Component Stability

The expedition-grade status of the series is reinforced by heavy-duty hardware. The FUJI reel seat with titanium-aluminum fasteners dead-locks the foot of your heavy spinning reel. This completely eliminates any play or vibration, even under peak drag pressures.

PE12 Team Setup Recommendations:

Reel Selection: These blanks strictly require top-tier offshore spinning reels in sizes 10000, 14000, or 20000 (Shimano standard).

Gear Ratio: For working heavy vertical jigs and pumping powerful fish, we strongly recommend modifications with the PG (Power Gear) designation. The lower gear ratio provides the necessary high torque and protects the reel's internal mechanisms from premature wear.
